Nicky Kantura
As a fully qualified, BACP registered Maternal Mental Health Counsellor working in St Albans and online, I offer specialist support to women navigating the emotional impact of pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood.
With over 13 years of experience in the mental health sector, my work includes supporting women who have experienced traumatic birth, difficult or unexpected birth experiences, and the emotional challenges that can follow in the postpartum period.
Birth trauma can affect every woman differently. For some, it can bring anxiety, low mood, intrusive thoughts, fear around future pregnancies, or a sense of feeling disconnected from themselves or their experience. Sometimes it can feel difficult to make sense of what happened, especially when others expect you to simply move on.
Alongside birth trauma, I also support women with pregnancy and postnatal anxiety, low mood, identity changes, relationship or family concerns, and experiences of pregnancy or infant loss.
As an integrative counsellor, therapy is tailored to you as an individual. Drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches, sessions can offer space to gently process your birth experience, explore how it has affected you emotionally, and begin to make sense of what you're carrying — at your pace, in a safe and compassionate space.
