Dr Miriam Inder

Perinatal Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Practitioner and Consultant

You shouldn't be left feeling upset when you think about your birth experience. Perhaps you ended up having an emergency c-section after planning a water birth. Maybe there was a medical problem with you or your baby, or you felt ignored by people who were supposed to be caring for you. Instead of being joyful and happy, as you had imagined it, your experience of giving birth felt lonely and frightening.

It wasn’t your fault, and it wasn’t because you didn’t try hard enough.

Now, even weeks or months afterwards, it may be impossible to stop remembering what happened, no matter how hard you try.

I am Dr. Miriam Inder, a perinatal Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience. I founded Better Beginnings, a therapy service specialising in perinatal and reproductive trauma, including birth trauma, baby loss, and distress relating to infertility. Helping you to feel safe, supported and understood so you can process your birth experience and feel confident to move forward again.

It’s important to work with a therapist who uses evidence-based approaches. I hold the title of Clinical Psychologist, a legally protected designation. I'm an accredited EMDR Consultant/Supervisor with the EMDR Association UK and also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and am a level 1 trained IFS therapist—all of which have strong evidence bases, either well-established or emerging.

Please visit my website www.betterbeginnings.co.uk to find out more about how I can help you.
